Judiciary Committee Rates Hugh McGough as Highly Recommended

Pittsburgh Pennsylvania – November 24, 2008. The Allegheny County Bar Association today announced that its Judiciary Committee has released its most recent ratings of members who have come before the committee to be rated should they some day seek a seat on the bench of the Pennsylvania Superior Court or the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas.

Post-Gazette Endorses Hugh !!!

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has endorsed Hugh for Judge of the Court of Common Pleas.

Hugh McGough, 53, of Shadyside, a specialist in labor and employment law, was a negotiator, labor relations manager and assistant solicitor for the city of Pittsburgh for nine years. Today he is in private practice, primarily handling workplace, municipal and criminal law. He comes highly recommended by the bar association. A former producer at KDKA-TV, he is active in the community, including as a board member and former president of the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force. While his brother, Tom, is the Post-Gazette's attorney, that didn't influence our decision. We endorse Hugh McGough because he is a hard-working, experienced attorney who would bring dignity, impartiality and ethics to the court.

The Pennsylvania Joint Board of Workers United / SEIU (Service Employees International Union) has endorsed Hugh McGough for Judge of the Court of Common Pleas. In endorsing Hugh, Sam Williamson stated, ""The Pennsylvania Joint Board is committed to supporting candidates for elected office who understand the needs of working people and are committed to workers' rights and economic justice. Our experience working with you to enforce the City of Pittsburgh's labor peace agreement, and the opportunity I have had to get to know you over the past couple of years, leaves no doubt that you are such a candidate".

The Tribune Review has endorsed Hugh for Judge of the Court of Common Pleas. Here is what the Tribune Review had to say in their May 14th editorial. • The one word that comes to mind to most people when you mention the name Hugh McGough is "fair." What more could you want in a judge? Mr. McGough, a former newspaper reporter and TV news producer, is a former assistant solicitor in Pittsburgh and labor relations manager. The Shadyside resident, 53, is another solid choice for the bench.

Hugh McGough Receives Highly Recommended Rating

On November 13, 2008,Hugh Fitzpatrick McGough received the highest ranking, "Highly Recommended" from the Judiciary Committee of the Allegheny County Bar Association.

The Allegheny County Bar Association's Judiciary Committee is a group of 24 lawyers independently elected by the 6,500 members of the ACBA. The Judiciary Committee is charged with evaluating all candidates for local, appellate, and federal courts who reside in Allegheny County.

The Judiciary Committee examines candidates strictly on their merit, without reference to political affiliation or activity. The Committee also adheres to a strict policy of confidentiality; only the final decision reflecting a candidate's rating is released.

A rating of HIGHLY RECOMMENDED is defined as follows:

The candidate:

1. Exibits preeminence in the law by way of outstanding legal ability and a wide range of experience, either in a specialized field of law or a more varied practice, and has a reputation in the legal community as standing at the top of his/her profession.
