When is the election?

The primary election was Tuesday May 17, 2011. The general election will take place on Tuesday, November 8, 2011. The polls will be open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Hugh McGough is running for Magisterial District 05-2-35 which covers the 7th and 14th wards in Pittsburgh's East End. The position is currently held by the Honorable Nathan Firestone who is retiring.

Can I still register to vote?

Yes. For information about how to register in person or by mail, contact the Allegheny County Elections Division, Room 609 of the County Office Building, located at the corner of Ross Street and Forbes Avenue, downtown Pittsburgh, Pa., 15219. Regular business hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The telephone number is (412) 350-4510. Note that the deadline for registration is 30 days prior to the election.

Can I vote by absentee ballot?

Yes. Completed absentee ballot applications must be received in the office of the Elections Division no later than 5:00 p.m. on the Tuesday prior to the Primary or Election.
