The primary election is on Tuesday May 19th, 2009. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
What is the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County?
The Court of Common Pleas is the trial court for Allegheny County. There are four divisions in the Court of Common Pleas; Family, Civil, Criminal and Orphans Court. There are 43 judges in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas. Each judge is assigned to a specific division.
How many seats are available for Court of Common Pleas?
There are currently five seats available.
Since there are five vacancies, how many votes will I have to cast?
You will have five votes to cast; one vote for every vacancy.
Are you running as Democrat or a Republican?
It is my intention to run as both a Democrat and Republican. Judicial candidates are allowed to cross file as both Democrat and Republican. In March, I will need to submit at least 500 signatures from registered voters from each party in order to qualify to be listed as a candidate on their respective ballot.
If I am registered as an Independent can I still vote for Hugh in the primary ?
No. You must be registered as either a Democrat or a Republican. If you would like to change your registration so you can vote in the May Primary, please contact our campaign at 412-427-2486 or contact the Election Department at 412-350-4500.
Can I still register to vote?
Yes. The last day to register to vote in this election is April 20th, 2009.
